Reynolds Towing President Greg Reynolds started the company in 1980 at the age of 19, a few months after he was injured in a car accident. Due to the accident he had to drop out of Parkland College for the semester and began working at the Kerr McGee gas station in Urbana. Greg was able to buy the station and soon acquired 'Ol Red', his first wrecker. Using common sense and mechanical know-how, Greg started to grow the towing business. Since his real passion was for towing he sold the gas station and started up his own towing company. Over the years he has acquired several smaller towing companies and the current operation employs almost 30, including 20 drivers. Greg's sister, Susan Jepsen, joined the company in 1999, and serves as the company's Chief Financial Officer as well as a Board member of the Professional Towing and Recovery Operators of Illinois.
Reynolds Towing Service has grown from a one-man/one-truck operation to the largest towing company in central Illinois. Serving the Community 24 hours a day/ 7 days a week/ 365 days a year, as well as being a registered provider with the Cities of Champaign and Urbana respectively, the University of Illinois, Champaign and Piatt County Sheriffs' Departments and the Illinois State Police, we utilize the latest in towing technology and equipment.
Our uniformed personnel includes full-time drivers extensively trained in the use of towing equipment, to best serve the needs of our customers efficiently and safely. Our extensive inventory of equipment includes one-ton tow trucks , medium-duty vehicles, flat beds, heavy-duty tow trucks, semi-tractors, drop-deck and Landoll trailers. The largest tow truck in the fleet is a 60-Ton Rotator. Our business is tuned to the towing and recovery of semi tractor-trailers, medium-duty vehicles, passenger vehicles of all makes and models and flatbed transportation of all types up to and including most pieces of industrial machinery.
Our business is centrally located to the cities of Champaign and Urbana, which enhances our ability to serve the University of Illinois campus area. We also have the ability to serve customers in need of service to and from the Chicago, St. Louis and Indianapolis metropolitan areas, to name a few. In August 2008 we moved to our new location on Kenyon Road. The six acres with a 44,000 square foot building not only allows for more vehicle storage both inside and out but also includes conference rooms, a training room and larger dispatch offices.
